Ready to go camping? No, not yet, because you have not chosen the best four person tent. There are plenty of four person tent models available in the market today, but how are you going to make the right decision to choose the best tent suited to your requirements?

First of all, how are you going to get four people to sleep in one cramped tent? That is why your first priority is to make sure the tent is really roomy especially if one of your tent mates likes flinging his hands and feet in all directions while asleep!

Choosing the best four person tent needs a comparative study. Look at the footage in square measurements. Also look at how high the roof is. Can your six-foot 3 inches form stand erect in the tent without stooping? Look at the peak height at the centre and then measure the tent height from its sides. Is it roomy enough? Is it made of sturdy material? Is it going to last you really long? Is it cost-effective? Is it a four season tent which means that you can camp out throughout the year? Is it easy to put up and take down? If the answer is yes, buy your four person tent right away!

In fact if you find your tent cramped with 4 people sleeping in it, you may want to try this tip. If you are hiking and you need to bring your gear inside, use the tent for only three people. But if you are travelling by car, store your gear in the car thus enabling four people to sleep easily in that four persons tent! That means that you are going to have enough of  space for your sleeping bags or your inflatable mattresses, when you are out camping. And that is the top function of a proper four person tent!

If you keep waiting eagerly for the summer, because that is going to be the time when you intend to go travelling in “them thar” mountains, well, do not you need a sturdy four Person tent capable of taking on the harsh environment?

You want something, which seems to say, “Who cares what’s the weather, as long as we are together…” The idea is that your choice of tent  can either be a three season tent, which means you are going to spend the winter hibernating in your cave, or you can choose a 4 season tent, which means that you intend spending the winter outdoors, too.  There are people who prefer four season tents, when making the choice for a really robust and sturdy 4 Person tent.

So now that you have already booked your place on a campsite, gathered the 3 extra Musketeers ready to go adventuring with you, you need to look at these important tips before you buy a tent.

What is the tent fabric used in the making up of the 4 Person tent?  If you are living in a dry climate, you would want polycotton tents.  But if you know that it is going to keep raining continuously throughout your vacation, (for example, if you are vacationing in the UK!), you may want to buy a polyester waterproof tent.  The best thing about this tent, is that you can dip it into the nearest source of running water to wash off that extra mud.  Then, of course, the size of the 4 Person tent depends on how tall the possible occupants of the tent are.  You may want a tent which has a little bit of space in it, instead of choosing a tent, which just allows you sleeping space, with no extra space for luggage.  So choose your 4 Person tent with care and enjoy your holidays!

If you are one of those people who cannot bear to stay in one place during vacations and need to be moving around continuously, it will not be long before you start looking for the best camping equipment. And this is going to include looking for a really good four person tent.

Now you have a look at some practical aspects before you choose the best tent. If you are camping beside the river, you can carry a heavy tent. On the other hand, if you are leaving for those high mountains and valleys, why would you want to be burdened with something really heavy especially when you are at high altitudes? Look for something which is right for your specifications and requirements. On the other hand you would also want to look for something which is sturdy enough to meet any sort of weather condition.

Tents are normally graded into 2 categories — three seasons and four seasons. A three seasons tent is going to last you through the three seasons, spring, fall, and the summer. Naturally a four person tent for four seasons is going to be a heavy duty tent which is going to last you through the winter. These heavy-duty tents are going to have more poles so that they will not blow away in a winter blizzard.

So choose a four person tent that suits your requirements and specifications the best. You may want to look at tunnel and dome shaped tents. It is much more sensible to buy a dome shaped tent, because you are going to stake it down, thus making it more steady. A tunnel tent does not need staking.

Use these tips to find the best four person tent, which is going to last you a long time on your adventures on mountains or plains!

Kelty Mantra 7 Tent Review

keltymantra7tent Kelty Mantra 7 Tent ReviewI recently returner from a camping trip in Yosemite using this tent for the first time. Putting up the tent the first time wasn’t too tough, but it took about 30 minutes (taking my time).

You will need a lot of room on one side of the tent (at least 20 feet) to slide these humongous gold poles through the tent sleeves. The tent itself is pretty nice. There is HEAPS of room on the inside and we got this tent specifically so we could put our son on the other side since he can be an abusive sleeper, but we didn’t end up using the divider.

Kelty Mantra 7 Tent Positives

The positives of this tent are large sleeping space, tall enough to stand in (I’m 6’2″), good ventilation, setup wasn’t too bad, 3-season tent with good rainfly. The bad? Well, it would have been nice to have some type of privacy without the rainfly being on. The screens on the front are huge and you can see right through them.

Kelty Mantra 7 Tent Negatives

The negatives: Pushing the tent poles through the sleeves was kinda tough as the material wanted to grab onto the poles. Just takes a little more time and a helper would make the process easier. The floor material seemed a little thin and it got me worried when I brought our suitcase in there. The floor looked nicely sealed against the elements though. We didn’t have the tent in the rain, so I can’t tell you how it performed…although it started to rain just as I was packing the tent away in the back of the car.

Summary: My recommendation

The vestibule on this tent is large and you can pretty much set a seat or two within it. With the rainfly on, it makes the tent much larger, so plan on having a large campsite to put this tent in place. Yes, it’s a large tent…and that’s what you are looking for! :) If I was to purchase again, I would buy this tent again.

I bought mine at Altrac for $529 with free delivery and found there service to be great.

Kelty Green River 4 Review

keltygreenriver4 300x234 Kelty Green River 4 ReviewI bought this tent 5 months ago and have spent many weekends this Summer living in it. I travel to a lot of music festivals and wanted something weather-proof, roomy, and tall enough to stand up in. These requirements were nicely met (and exceeded) by this tent.

Positives of the Kelty Green River 4

It is much roomier that your typical 4-person tent. At aproximately 9′X9′, the interior easily fits a queen-size inflatible matteress with plenty of room on all sides for tons of gear. The nice thing about the height of this tent is that the roof is at its maximum height right inside the door – not just in the very center like most dome tents.

As far as being weather-proof, I’ve endured a few nasty wind and rain storms and I haven’t gotten a drop of rain in it; The full-coverage rain fly on this tent is a wonderful feature. This tent also has lots of nice buckles, velcro, and elastic hooks secure everything firmly in place. Well-placed screening and vents keep air circulating in hot weather.

Negatives of the Kelty Green River 4

My gripes with this tent are few. One is that I’ve never been able to roll it up tight enough to fit all of the pieces back into the original carrying case. My other gripe is that the tent poles are so long, its difficult to set up in close quarters (between trees, other tents, etc.) and a bit of a struggle for one person.

I also didn’t understand the purpose of the ground flaps around the door until I saw it set up. The flaps secure the vestibule – a nice place to store your cooler, shoes, and chairs out of the weather or to use like a screen room to avoid insects.

Summary: My Recommendation

All in all, I’m very happy I ‘upgraded’ from my usual department store-type tent to this much higher quality tent. Worth every penny!

I bought mine from Altrac for $294.95. You can find them here.
